    CTF Spring Update 2019
    Hello everyone, I'm here to present the long awaited CTF Update bringing a ton of new content to the game! Let's get started...

    New Class: Scout
    By far the most exciting part of this update! It's been a few years since the addition of Elf, so it's time for another new class! Presenting to you: The Scout!

    Scout is a premium class and can be bought here. For the first few days, it is free to play on the servers, starting right now! Scout won't be unlockable with credits until May 13th.

    Armor:

    • Iron Helmet
    • Iron "Feather" Boots
      • Protection I
      • Thorns II
      • Reduces all fall damage by 70%
    Items:
    • Scout Sword (Stone Sword)
      • Sharpness II
    • 2 Steak
    • Swapper (Slime Ball)
      • Right click to throw a swapper ball which will cause the hit enemy and yourself to swap positions
      • Throw cooldown: 0.75s
      • Player cooldown: 10s (Once you swapped a player, they can't be swapped for 10s)
    • Death Tag (Name Tag)
      • Left or right click an enemy to tag them.
      • Tagged players receive 1.5x damage
      • Duration: 20s (Can be removed by a medic heal or Engineer's new healing aura)
      • Cooldown: 20s (Can be restored instantly by a medic or by killing an enemy that is not tagged)

    Class Rework: Engineer
    One of the most requested reworks. This was put together from a bunch of community ideas with small tweaks we've made! This is fully replacing the old engineer.

    Owners of the previous engineer class keep access to it and won't have to unlock it again. In case you had a custom weapon name or stat tracking enabled on one of the items that have been removed, you will be refunded a new key as soon as you log in. See your keys in /keys.

    Armor:

    • Remains the same: Iron - Leather - Leather - Iron
    • All pieces now have Protection I
    Items:
    • Engineer Pickaxe (Diamond Pickaxe)
      • Sharpness I
      • Knockback I
    • 4 Steak
    • Grenade Launcher (Wooden Shovel)
      • Right click to launch a TNT block
      • A second click will cause it to explode instantly
      • Explosion deals up to 4 hearts of true damage in a 5 block radius to enemies
      • Cooldown: 3.5s
    • Speed Pad (Stone Pressure Plate)
      • Can be placed down anywhere except in a 15 block radius around the flag
      • Effects when running over: Speed II (6s), teammates only
      • Limited to 5 uses, then breaks. Indicated by the blue dots above it
    • Healing Aura (Cake)
      • Right click to activate aura around yourself
      • Effect: Regeneration III (5s), teammates only
      • Radius: 4 blocks
      • Duration: 5s
      • Cooldown: 15s
    • Recall structures (Enchanted book)
      • Right click to instantly reset & recall the speed pad from anywhere
      • When resetting the speed pad this way, a 5s cooldown is applied



    Smaller Class Changes:
    • Ninja Flash Bombs:
      • Blindness effect removed
      • All effects reset when the ninja dies
    • Pyro:
      • Now has an iron chestplate
    • Chemist:
      • Permanent Resistance I effect
      • Reduced mana usage for health & damage pots
    • Mage:
      • Can no longer left click the freeze & healing spell (only right click, like every other spell)
    Visual Upgrades:

    Flagdisplay menu:
    Doing /flagdisplay will now open a menu where you can easily change your preferences instead of using the command! (The command also still works)

    New /options menu:
    This menu brings all CTF options into one place:
    • Flagdisplay
    • Credits
    • Weapon name tags
    • Chat Quickcommands
    • Classes
    • Chat censor
    • Save hotbar layout
    • Help book
    • Cosmetics

    Distance indicator added to death messages:
    For those preferring to play mid or long-ranged classes, this is for you. Killing somebody with a projectile will now show the distance in the death message. This also shows up on Headshots!
    (Must be at least 10 blocks away from your target to show up)

    New Quickcommands:
    In another thread we asked you guys to suggest new quickcommands! This update will add the following:
    • /u Understood!
    • /ctf Capture the flag, please!
    • /ns Nice shot!
    • /lgt Let's go team!
    • /bye bye.
    • /ok ok.
    • /udwm u don wan mess
    • /pog Poggers
    • /owo owo
    • /uwu uwu
    • /ily i love you
    • /hp Hugs and pugs!
    • /dam dont @ me
    • /toxic TOXIC
    • /bn Blame Nom!
    You can now unlock these in-game with /qc!

    Also, you can now send all quickcommands in /all if you wish to! To do this, simply add a '!' in front or after the command. Example: /gj! /all Good job!


    Miscellaneous:


    New /defaultclass command:
    Are you a lazy person and always play the same class? You will like this! Simply select your favorite class in-game and do /defaultclass - from now on you will select this class by default when joining!

    New /class off command:
    Since some of you apparently don't like the class selector in your hotbar, you can now turn it off with this command! You can enable it again with /class on

    Bug fixes:
    Note that most of them have been live for quite a while now - but never officially mentioned anywhere, so here's an overview
    • Necro AI functional again (still sucks but zombies are not completely dead now :wink:)
    • Medic healing no longer closes chat
    • Medics no longer take true damage from a pyro while standing in fire
    • The credits for the last cap are now also displayed and taken into account for the MVP of the game
    • Fixed some spelling errors in the help book
    • Fixed issue with the carrier gadget
    • Fixed maps being played twice in the same match
    • Medic webs can no longer be placed in spawn
    • Fixed medic restore unblocking swords/undrawing bows
    • Fixed medic restore removing Dwarf's slowness
    • Fixed necro mob buffing
    • Fixed stat tracking!
    • Fixed flag stealing credits
    • Fixed Necro getting XP from hitting players in spawn
    • Mages can no longer freeze players in spawn
    • Fixed ninja silly dust not turning into redstone after capturing the flag

    I don't see Zones. I was tagged for this and there's no Zones. Disappointing!

    Well you totally ruined Engineer. It should be a new class with a new name. I would of never spent real money on this **** show it now is. It's definitely not an engineer class anymore. Thanks for ruining one of the things I enjoyed most in minecraft.

    Well you totally fixed Engineer. Im glad it's not a new class with a new name. I would of spent real money on the amazing rework it now is. It's definitely still an engineer class. Thanks for fixing one of the things I hated most in minecraft

    I agree that it is not very fair for people who bought engineer because of its camping aspect (lol) with turret tp etc and its original purpose. I think engineer was pretty broken though and really needed a rework but to be honest it should not even have been a class in the first place to avoid situations like that.

    While I agree with most of what you said, Engineer was rather broken before the update, we must realize that when the class was originally made, there was no competitive scene and many other classes were built much much more powerful than they are now, so it was generally a lot easier to deal with. With its 5+ nerfs/reworks, its fared a similar fate to necro (except I personally think they got the rework right)

    @ashleerules1 We are sorry that the new engineer is not what you hoped it would be and that it essentially destroyed the fun you had with it so far. The fact it is not very much engineer-like anymore also bothered us, perhaps some tweaks can be made to give it back the engineer feeling. What part of the class did you enjoy the most in the past?

    Which absolute genius suggested global chat shortcuts? and /classoff? and /defaultclass?

    I honestly enjoyed that it was like the TF2 engi, you could help your team out by sneaking into enemy lines and placing a teleporter, I liked that you were kinda weak, so you had to set your turret up strategically and also try not to die. I just really liked that class. But hey I'm someone who has like 300 hours playing engi in tf2 so it's kinda just my thing.


    If you think being an engineer means you're not doing anything, you've obviously never played as one.



    People may think I'm being dramatic or overreacting but as someone who has played ctf for years and followed the game through the server change, it's the only minigame I've so thoroughly enjoyed in minecraft.

    I too enjoyed old engineer, and was one of the best engi-mains on the server. However, I do think the regenerator was fundamentally overpowered, and have heard nothing but ire for the teleporter. (only people I hear complain about the turret are ninjas)

    While I would have preferred this just be a new class (demo sounds gr8), I can understand the changes. I think I'll make a much bigger post about how I feel about it in Ideas, but I personally think there are a few ways to keep the original focus of engineer without it being too overpowered, and maintain this new class with some minor tweaks so its not too similar.

    I do like the idea for the grenade launcher, but it should have been its own thing. The update kinda just made a new class and slapped the engineer label on it. Would it be possible to build a new class around this grenadier concept and take engineer in a different direction?
