Focus Thread - KOTHs & The End Event

    Hello all Raiders,

    As the title says, this is a focused look at the 2 current events. It's aim is to get feedback from you about these two new events this map, and whether you like, dislike, or have some small (or big!) changes to them. Let us know what you think.

    KOTH
    - 4 custom areas 300 blocks in each direction from spawn.
    - Building/Mining is disabled in the areas on a permanent basis
    - Each Saturday at 3PM ET, a KOTH activates (different each week) and teams compete to control for long enough to claim keys for each team member.
    - Restrictions: Each week, the KOTH has a different set of restrictions. This could be:
    • Iron armour / Sharpness I sword
    • Regular diamond armour / Sharpness III sword
    • No restrictions
    - Score system: The score system previously was time. If you lost control of the KOTH the time reset. The system was changed this map to points. When not controlling, your points would decrease slowly (if above 0), but they wouldn't reset.

    Possible feedback topics:
    - Do you like the new KOTH areas, and how they're more than just platforms now?
    - Do you like the days/times of KOTHs?
    - Is the point system better than the time system? Or could there be changes to the speed of gain/decay?
    - Do you enjoy the variety of KOTHs brought by restrictions? Should there be more variety?

    End Event
    - Every Sunday at 1PM ET
    - The custom End locks 1h prior to the event. And counts down to the end opening, and the event starting.
    - Upon start, players can enter the End via portal or at spawn.
    - A dragon spawns where the goal is to kill it
    - The player who deals the most damage to the dragon gets the EXP.
    - The dragon egg that drops from the dragon, which can be broken, and used to change spawners.
    - Chests also spawn when the End opens, which can contain a variety of loot, from ender pearls, to P4 gear.
    - During the event, there is no building/mining. However once the dragon is killed, building/mining is allowed.
    - You can only exit the End through the portal (all the time, not just during the event), which is closed while the dragon is alive. You cannot warp away.

    Possible feedback topics:
    - Do you like the days/times of the End Event?
    - Do you like the loot chests that spawn around the End, and the loot inside?
    - Should the reward, either XP, or something else be higher?
    - Should mining/building be enabled during the event?

    Spawner changing was of course new this map, and we've identified various flaws with certain mobs. When giving comments regarding these, keep an open mind and try to provide reasoning rather than simply 'disable them entirely'. But remember that this thread isn't primarily about spawner changing.

    In my opinion I have 2 things I need to say about this. #1: I feel like just a ender dragon egg although good I also feel like only 1 person gets it I mean it is a team effort to try and get this so I don’t feel like only 1 person should get it. #2: Twhat was talking about how he wanted old KoTH systems back, He believes with this old system smaller teams will have a chance at winning and it would be more fun. Also we both think that teaming shouldn’t be ok it ruins a lot of fights on KoTH and useually isn’t fair to other teams. I means a few days ago me and Team Mel0n and Manta were litterly sitting at KoTH. Agre wasn’t coming to KoTH, The only one who came not even to KoTH was Team Xylem being a lil **** tryna jump us while we ran out :grinning: That’s all I need to get out.     I already stated my poimt of view on spawners towards Eil.
    As for koths i like the new point system a lot more than the anoying time system.
    The only problem i see is, as airstrike already said, the problem of "Too big teams" So on the one hand i agree with him that koths are no fun for either team if one is too strong. However looking into it, not the " big teams" are the problem but the lacking player count but if i believe what i have heard from staff members next map should be advertised and with 50 or more players online during a koth, this wont be a problem any more

    End event: Remove the huge tree in the center. It makes hunting the dragon really anoying.

    There is a communist philosophy behind all those gear restricted koths i dont like them too much. More or less devaluing the goods of those who grind and play/keep the server alive and spend money on boosters. Give me 1 reason why i should play as much next map to gind p4 which i cant use on two thirds of koths anyways?

    Add a Sumo event/PVP style tournament.

    Add an Elo score for PVP

    Add a bounty system where if some is killed by someone else, the killer gets 10% of the losers balance

    Add a PVP arena above or below spawn (see my thread here: https://www.brawl.com/threads/74699/ )

    Nerf gold farms

    Add an award system for stats (player with the most kills/highest Elo/highest balance in a month gets VIP for a month)

    Add more warps to nonranked players

    Reality idc is it p4 or iron with old koth system but old koth was better

    Iron is more OG but I kinda feel like it is kinda stupid because Gapple = Win

    What's your reasoning? The issue with the previous design was smaller teams that had no chance of winning kept coming back to knock, then run away again. Of course it's now possible to remove knockback enchants, but is there another reason?

    There would be plently of fights and 3 team koths had all the teams come to koth orginionally. But lack of people attending lead SuB to quit.. Hopefully with a bigger player base more teams will fight koth and then you will get more pvp

    If you advertise a product enough it will be bought no matter what product it is. Most of the other servers have a ton of 1.8 features. And imo 1.8 pvp is smoother.

    Yes, the KOTH areas are better than the ones from last map. However, I think you could implement more creative structures (Maybe like inside of a castle, in a tower or in a cave). In addition to I think it should be harder to knock people off the KOTH, especially when you allow KB/

    Yes, I think the point system is better. The decay should be slower. The gain of speed is fine, but if the KOTH isn't contested for a certain amount of time, the gain rate should increase.
    - Do you enjoy the variety of KOTHs brought by restrictions? Should there be more variety?
    Since you can plan ahead, I think you should very the restrictions more, depending on the players. I don't think there should be iron KOTHs four months into the map. I also think that this many KOTHs should be restricted.

    There is also the possibility to vary the capture points needed for each KOTH, so some KOTHs could be more fast paced than others. I think iron KOTHs can be quite fun, regardless of how far into the map you are, but the frequency can be dummed down a bit.


    Haven't had much discussion about the End Event - Thoughts on this (and the pointers in the original post)?
