Potential moderator, as in you are applying for mod at the moment. The old map can not live without the new, and the inverse is true as well. Each map offers a diverse opportunity to explore new terrain and fight in different ways that provide a more enjoyable experience, if you were to remove either the old or new map, you would kill any chances of WarZ ever getting more than 5 players.

    Your right, im wrong
+ i meant "disqualify you as a potential moderator." Because im just telling the truth right now there isnt many player, but every day i get on there is more players. But your totally right if they remove 1 server its going down...

    That's not true.

This can just be his opinion, are you suggesting his opinion wouldn't matter as a mod? Why are standards for mod getting higher as the server dies more?

I can say, "there needs to be airdrops every hour" which is my opinion, and if I was mod that would still not imply that I "don't care about about the community" should someone disagree with it.

    As for Jay's post:
Removing warz 2.0, re-adding Wild west separate from warz is just one step. If you want to help revive these two areas, do a ban reset, give free ranks for a month or two (nobody is buying ranks atm) and direct staff to warz to focus during this time, and for a month after to see how it goes. Do the same thing with ranks on Wild-west and leave jmods/sheriffs on wild-west to report to higher ups. have a month in advance to plan an event for this but dont do these at the same time for separate servers.

Cough make mafias pyro hitch and I Wild West staff the dream team
    Jk
    No I’m not

Yea I mean we’ve been on this.

Honestly, before they killed the game mode @TheMafias putty and I planned out an entire new Wild West. (by new I mean minor updates to fix eco, add interesting events so that player retention is feasible, etc) We even planned on remaking the map to be less than the good ol aids 14k x 14k we’ve come to know and love. I think I still have a bunch of the old terrain and plans we had, most were 3-4 town-sized maps.
I can post pictures of the plans and links to docs so you guys can see our ideas later. Sadly the map pyro hitch and I almost finished is lost.

Along with other things we planned; town(s) with pvp enabled, bank-robbing etc etc. along with a sheriff rework - essentially we had a lot of stuff planned. This was all of course before the grand staff meeting where warz 2.0 was released. Anyways it’s not really worth saying things that would get the game back because I’d just be repeating what you guys have said. But, I do have an idea. I don’t know @SoCool21 ‘s progress on the map, or whether he has helped or has even started it yet. So, I think we the community should try and help since we desire the game mode to return.

If you’re still invested in the ww community you’re probably in the disc, if not dm me on disc or here for a link. There I’ll hand out the ww builder rank to anyone willing to help. With this rank, you’ll get access to the channel we’re well discuss building locations updates etc. Since socool seems to be the only one working on this if we help the release will come sooner. I’ll work on sorting the discord server additions ASAP.

As for planning events, there are multiple threads I'll compile into 1 doc for ideas - It'll be a public doc for viewing, but if anyone wants access to it writing-wise, they'll have to ask.

I think bringing back wild west would be real cool, but In brawls current status the only staff member actively looking out for wild west is tom, and there's not much he can do by himself. If we really want it back, then lets help. It'd be great to get the OG back, but it would be far better if we could get it reworked a bit.

I always felt as if they put our time to better use than trying to create a whole new gamemode, we could of easily spent the weeks on end reworking the current one that was guaranteed at least a COMMUNITY and not 0 players. Overall even that wasn’t the fault and I still think to this day that it was more of a case of the staff members at the time who were going along with this, including me, failing the players of Wild West. Sure it was a valiant effort out of desperation to try and get some players back, it was rushed and not ready because a promise was given out that something new was coming and we had already confirmed that WW was coming down. And I know this probably won’t mean much now and some of you might not even care for it, but I truly do apologize to the whole community of WW for ignoring you guys, the entirety of this gamemode was made because of a lack of understanding to the whole community and when people who did know what to do were here (ex: ChicknSlayr, Hitchens, Droid) they were ignored. I’ll stand on those words, most of the time they got some attention and then were brushed off. Eil and Tom tried as hard as they could to keep pushing the gamemode but at the time they were the only “higher up” staff that were actually putting up the work. Hell even I was ignored and had to bug people really hard to try to get anything new out for WarZ and even then it took me a while because I was trying to do everything myself (clearly did not go my way) even though I had some of the resources there. As to why I made this thread, to start talking about something and not let just a couple people do it themselves. As of recently, Fortnite has been ignoring their players and implementing game changing vehicles (The B.R.U.T.E) that upset the entire community, even their casual community which they treasure so much for some reason. This is a cold case of a dying game due to not listening to your community. Sure you don’t ALWAYS have to listen, but keeping an eye out for these suggestions is what can decide between the right path and wrong path. I know a few people have a **** ton of ideas but only a couple have really came out about it... Nothing gets done without being pushy tbh and as Droid said, you don’t always have to be a staff member to cause an impact on something, helping out with the smaller things gets the big picture done and I hope things eventually get done.

Sorry for taking so long to respond - I have been on holiday for the past 2 weeks. To preface my response - I'm not discussing future changes to Wild West yet, as the changes which'll be implemented as part of Wild West's relaunch have been agreed on. I'll be officially proposing some ideas for major updates alongside the relaunch, and if there's a big enough playerbase, I will do everything I can to implement these major updates.

I plan on shutting down WarZ 2.0 as part of the WarZ revival project that I'll be starting work on as of tomorrow. We clearly missed the mark with WarZ 2.0, and there is no point in keeping it up for any longer. There may be some concepts from it that are salvageable, but that is not a focus at the moment, and any concepts introduced in WarZ 2.0 will not be added to OG WarZ unless the community shows general support for it.

Bringing back Wild West is another thing in the works, and it will be my priority after the WarZ revival. I plan on bringing the gamemode back with fairly large map changes (mainly making the map smaller, so it is suitable for lower playercounts), some minor tweaks streamlining money-making, and a reset. There are a lot of ideas floating around for some major updates to Wild West - Randomcitizen's plans, Deadwood, and my own ideas will all be considered if the playerbase returns to Wild West and it shows potential again.

I've briefly discussed this with you in PMs while I was on holiday and I've been thinking about different ways a build team would be able to help. I'd strongly recommend not trying to build a new Wild West map from scratch as it is unlikely it will be finished before I'm able to finish the OG Wild West map rework, but I have thought of some ways you guys can help. I'll be discussing this more with you over the next week or so when I can get some proper plans wrote up.

OK. I’ll spend my time on the other gamemodes I enjoy.

By the way, we may want to tweak sheriffs, because I’ve always had a problem with how they can frequently resurge after being killed.
Players work hard to gather their resources. Sheriffs do not. In fact, it’s default gear for sheriffs.
So, what I’m suggesting is a possible “administrative leave” mode for sheriffs if they’ve been killed a number of times. Kind of like some sort of cooldown.

didn't they have 2 minute respawns for sheriffs before it was shut down? I personally think that sheriffs shouldn't start out with a whole arsenal of guns when it'd be more realistic if they only had the pistol

The two minute wait to respawn was not enough. Might as well not have had it. Sure, they could have just a pistol, but not as a something to start with. Maybe just as your only weapon during your "administrative leave". Then, after maybe an hour, you can get the rest of your weapons from some sort of NPC.

i cant begin to describe how wrong this sentiment is, but ill try anyway.
if a high standard for being mod is whatever that conversation was about, ive got some bad news for you. fact of the matter is, as fewer people play on the server, the applicant pool goes down faster than the need for new moderators does, and so selections cant be as picky. there were lots of times when you couldnt apply for servers literally just because the servers didnt need them, the need for mods on war especially was never anywhere near the number of people applying.
and as for forums activity, so many people would repeat the same line about how "you need a minimum of 300 forum posts before applying for mod, or youll get denied instantly" or whatever. even if that was bull****, it still was true that forums activity was a must, and the fact that two current mods and three junior mods have less than 100 posts is proof enough for me that the standards for activity and devotion have gone downhill. im not qualified in the slightest to talk about their ingame activity or how popular they are or whatever, but forums activity is imperative and clearly in the past was miles more imperative than it is now. ierebos was as far as i can remember, the only mod at around the time i was with fewer than 300 posts, bar maybe a developer or admin or something who did things behind the scenes that didnt involve the forum.

tl;dr (even though it isnt that long, dont be lazy, read it):
the standards for mod havent risen, theyve just not fallen as fast as the quality of applicants has.

DISCLAIMER: its just my opinion, having not actually logged into the server for any reasonable amount of time i cant say, maybe theres been some big change of heart that the community has had about moderators and im wrong about all of this, i dont know. but from an outsider (and ex-mod) perspective, this is what i see.

I can tell you now as someone who gets involved with almost every applicant we get - you're pretty much correct. If someone doesn't break the rules for a few months and can prove to us that the answer to the "Why do you want to become a staff member?" question is genuine and not for show, they'll probably get staff. We just get a ridiculously low amount of applicants now.

I mean sure what you said is fine but I think my question was taken out of context for the message I was replying to. The context was the fact that Yupper couldn't even express his opinion without someone getting on his ass for having an active application for staff. Perhaps I shouldn't have generalized as such.

Either way, I still think forums activity is a huge nothing-burger in terms of applying for staff, you can easily rack up 300 posts (non-spam) within a month without genuine effort. That was probably the least important sect of being staff (at least, when I was staff. IDK about how important it was when you were). I just didn't like how his application for being a staff member was being challenged for posting a mere opinion, thats all.
    Well... lol.
From what I've seen, it's not mostly to do with forums. Like I said, I generalized after a forums-related comment.

They should just make a single server solely focused on WarZ for it to come back, in University for Computer Programming now. Such a shame to see the potential put to waste. WarZ was ahead of its time.

bumping this because it still needs to happen. Along with removing WildZ or whatever y'all decided to call it (definitely not WarZ), adding in one more server per map (in other words, 4 WarZ servers total, two new map two old map) would be a very smart idea to keep player retention. Since there's only two servers currently for WarZ, whenever people die in fights they only have one other server to go to fight again. When people die on both servers, usually they log off. Adding in two other servers while simultaneously removing the WildZ (replacing WarZ 1 WildZ with a new map, and adding a WarZ 4 for an old map) would increase the amount of time people are playing the server.
