    Hello CTF gamers,

    Map testing is upon us! The rotation will be changed to the maps seen below starting on Sunday, February 9th and will end at 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, March 8th.

    The following maps are those that were submitted before the deadline, with some of those maps being weeded out if they did not meet map standards or if they were a rework of a map that had insufficient changes. If you have any questions concerning the maps that were weeded out or any questions about this map wave in general, feel free to send any of us a PM. We have a total of 66 maps being tested, 40 of them are originals, and the other 26 are map reworks. Without further ado, here are the maps being considered for Wave XVI!

    As for voting, the polls will be created soon and a new thread will be created with them linked! Check back for that within the next few days. Don't forget to vote for each map in-game, you guys decide what ends up in rotation!

    Well as I said ingame, I highly dislike the decision to cut half of the map submissions just because too many maps were submitted. The mods should have been pretty much aware of the amount of submitted maps, when they decided to extend the submission deadline to February 1st - stating all maps submitted until that day would make it into the testing phase for map wave XVI.

    In fact considering all cut maps of this testing phase for the map wave after XVI will just result in the same problem again, as people will keep submitting maps until then as well. It just doesn't make sense, why give us more time to finish our maps if you can't handle the amount of submitted maps?

    I would have much prefered it if you decided to do two testing phases, each lasting 1-2 weeks, and after both selections of maps were tested, the top 10-15 of them would get added.

    Non-transparent decisions like this ruin this gamemode and will also cause a loss of trust in the staff team.

    So, as someone who submitted all of the maps later on and didn't get any of mine in the first wave either, I see where you and others are coming from with this @ikemulti
    In hindsight, we should have announced the deadline at the end of November and the deadline be January 1st. Alas, hindsight is always 20/20. In the future we will keep better count of the submissions, but you also need to know this many submissions hasnt happened at least in a very long time, maybe not ever?, so we weren't prepared for it. The single reason we extended it was because there were people who wanted to finish their maps and did not feel the time from when we announced the deadline and when the deadline had been, was enough time to wrap things up. If we didn't care about the community, we would not have extended it. If we didn't care about the community, we wouldn't have listened to you guys and have discussed further to find a solution to this problem. We did in fact find a solution and I am hoping everyone will be happier with the change in the map wave that will be announced later today, as I am much happier with it, for this should make it so all the maps get played and the rotation won't be random.
    We do try our best with transparency, but we are not perfect, not close, and at the end of the day we are all just volunteers, we do the best we can for you guys, but please be understanding and don't feel the need to tell us things we do will ruin the gamemode, we know that the decisions we make are important. We do want to make everyone happy and that being super unrealistic, I ask for you guys to please keep communicating with us, we will keep trying to be better with transparency(It's definitely gotten better over the years), but also try to understand that we are only human.

    Please remove CTFort, cat soop and I made it and it had some issues and I don't want it to be played since it didn't go well. Id rather make a new version and publish it(maybe in the long future). If you guys want to keep it, its ok but my half is saying to remove it from testing(cat soop doesn't play on brawl anymore from what ive seen (he was last online 13weeks ago))

    Update regarding Map Wave XVI Testing

    We would like to apologise for the non-transparent decision to split the maps into two separate waves, due to the sheer number of map submissions we've received. We have never really received that many map submissions for a map wave before, so did not pay attention after announcing the extended map submission deadline. We thought this would be a good solution, however, it seemed that we were not respecting people's hard work they put into their maps and submitting them on time. In response, we've made some changes to the testing period:
    • All (66 acceptable) map submissions will now be tested.
    • The CTF rotation is now fixed - you won't be seeing Skyworlds VIII 4 times in a row anymore
    • Testing will now last for 1 month, ending on Sunday 8th March at 11:59pm EST
    Thread has been updated with the rest of the maps.

    We do try our best with transparency and are constantly trying to improve it. We will make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

    Map #236621 is the original, I did some changes to it and resubmitted the map for wave XVI as map #280688. It got some harsh criticism during the sportlight saturday and I therefore decided to rework it completely.. but couldn't finish it in time. I will try to finish the map within the next days, I hope that this is alright.
