Explaining my inactivity and my future plans for raid

    ☰ Explaining my inactivity

    So obviously, I've been very inactive recently, which I'd like to apologise for. Right after we released the BETA-map, school started and one week into school I got sick (could've been Corona, never got my test results back). I was sick for a bit more than a week - and got no replacement from school so I needed to focus on catching up.

    When I finally wasn't sick anymore, I went to school for two days and then got a cold, meaning that I had to stay home for another week, again with no replacement in classes - and studying from home without any help is challenging to say the least, so obviously this was what I was putting my time and effort at.

    You may have seen me play other games on discord/steam - and yes I have. The constant stress from school and isolation from my friends worsened my mental health so playing games with my close friends is a way for me to cope.

    I'm still behind at school, so I'll probably be inactive until Halloween but I hope you have understanding for this.

    I'd also like to thank @sch104 and @CoCaptainBlue for stepping in for me when I couldn't be there - even though you may not notice it, a lot is going on behind the scenes, and especially these two gentlemen are doing a lot at the moment, so thank them for me too will ya :smile:.

    ☰ End event

    Seeing how the last end event was barely contested and people didn't bother playing it, I decided that we will completely revamp the end event.

    Therefore, we will have an HG-feast-style event. The end will be locked before the event starts; once the event starts, you can press on the end event teleporter at spawn or go through an end portal.

    Once you’ve entered the end, you will spawn in one out of many set spawn points. In the middle of the end, there will be a chest hill (like the HG feast) which contains new end loot. Max 1 elytra per event - this would limit players from having too many. Loot-table for the rest is to be done, so if you have any ideas (please limit the items to end-items) feel free to let me know. Players are not able to leave the end during the event but are still able to join the event by pressing the portal (if they died in the end, or just haven’t joined yet).

    • 30 minutes before the event starts, the end closes
    • Once the event starts, you can enter the end by pressing the end portal block at spawn, or going through the portal in the stronghold
      • Once entered, you will spawn in one of the set spawn points
      • Players cannot leave the end, as the exit is closed for 30 minutes
      • Block-place and block-destroy events are disabled
    • In the middle of the end, there will be a hill of chests, containing loot from a loot table
      • Every event should only contain 1 elytra
    • Once the 30-minute timer is out, players can leave the end, chests will not be despawned, but blocks in the end can be broken again. Blocks below the spawn points cannot be broken.
    Please let me know what you think of this, and don't be afraid to give any suggestions.

    Obviously, the BETA-map was not supposed to last this long and @sch104 made a good thread explaining it all. You can read that thread here.

    If you have any ideas for EOTM-events, please let me know.

    ☰ New map competition


    Because the next map will be the official launch of McPvP's Raid, we will hold a competition that goes on for the entirety of the map - I have some ideas that are still being discussed, but if you do have any - please let me know!

    I'm also interested in hearing from you about what type of prize you'd like for this competition, this is all stuff to be done, so no opinion is wrong (except if it's @ibnc's)!

    And lastly, I'd like to apologise for this map having so many glitches and taking longer than expected - obviously some things could've gone better, but hopefully, my thread, alongside with Sean's explains why it went as it went.

    I'd also like to apologise for the lack of events, some stuff of the plugins I use in order to host events broke, and weren't prioritised (because of the bigger bugs) and that combined with me having no time made it very hard to get any events sorted.

    Fix most of the glitches then try getting youtubers ro advertise a bit. Probably askimg other server owners for youtubers if so. Id say starting out between youtubers with 1k to 5k subs since they are more in likely to reply.
    Also ive mentioned a few ideas to sean about a new idea that could be potentially good for he players.
    Also and about the netherite i think its best off if this is just removed. It barely takes kb.
    I suggest i could maybe rework lumber mill seeing the numerous issues with the loths being way too many hills or bumpy instead of being more flat for pvp.
    Also finally just wondering on the different style of koths since iron koths are very fun imo and honestly they bring alot of comp most of the time.

    They could probably just remove the knockback resistance from netherite armour.

    Your idea is if the same mindset of our initial thought. However, we concluded that, if the knockback is disadvantageous in normal pvp, then it is fine as is. This ended up being the case, so there isn't really an issue. Netherite will simply be used primarily in situations where things are close quarters, where it is useful, giving it a use and adding strategy and planning.

    If this were to no longer be the case, something of this sort would be considered.
