Idea Duelist

    Hello CTFers, i want to present you: The Duelist

    This is the first time i've crafted a class. Opinions, suggestions, questions and other type of feedback is highly appreciated. Duelist is an idea that just popped up in my head as something i would want to play and thus may not be well thought out.

    Armor:
    Black leather Boots with (Featherfalling 2)
    Iron Leggings
    Chain Chestplate (Protection 1)
    Iron helmet

    Hotbar:
    Diamond Sword
    3 Steaks (4, as suggested by Forleb)
    Iron Trapdoor (Shield)
    Feather (Leap)
    3 Arrows (Throwing Knives)

    Abilities:
    Shield: (7 seconds cooldown)
    Activated by right click, once activated, you have 0.7 seconds to get hit by an enemy, you fully block this hit and your shield gets charged up 1 level (Up to level 3). After blocking you can either block again (needs to be activated again) or execute a riposte (hit the enemy with your shield). If you dont block or riposte during the 0.7 seconds you lose your shield levels and it goes on cooldown. A riposte will deal true damage according to the level (1: 4dmg; 2: 8dmg; 3: 12dmg). Blocking as well as riposting will play a sound effect for both players involved.

    Leap: (5 seconds cooldown)
    Activated by right click. Gives a small boost in the direction you are looking (3-4 blocks far). Will also play a slight sound effect.

    Throwing knives: (Up to 3 knives, regenerate 1 knife every 4 seconds)
    Throw a knife (arrow) with right click up to 12 blocks far. Deals 2 true damage and stops the enemy in their movement (slowness 1 for 1.5 seconds) but does not deal any knockback.

    Notes/Thoughts:
    • The idea of this class is to be a good dueling class(duh), being able to pick out targets and deal with them with the help of your abilities. With less survivability but higher damage output than soldier its not intended as a capping threat but instead focus on being a good roaming and offensive support class.
    • The shield ability could be activated by blocking your sword instead of a standalone item. This would hinder blockhitting though.
    • Leap can be used in 3 primary ways: Gaining positional advantage (though not as strong as soldiers wallclimb); catching up to enemies; starting/expanding combos on the enemy
    • Duelist is supposed to be a high skill floor high skill ceiling class. Without a decent understanding of the abilities and pvp skills the class should only have limited effectiveness.

    Looks alright, though its health pool might be a bit low depending on where you assign this class. I like the fact that it's more on the mechanical side, having multiple abilities that aren't great on their own and force game sense. I'd like to see it tested, but that's only if there's room after the addition of these perfect and legitimate spring classes.

    Do you think the general heatlh stuff should be improved, like better armor and more steak or would some sort of healing ability, maybe one which requires some "skill" to use work better?

    It has enough abilities on its docket as is, so maybe an extra steak? It's mainly a melee class, so it will need to at least have a similar health pool to soldier.
